We went to the Producers’ Co-Op today. Kennedy picked up this contraption, mainly because it was pink, decided she wanted to wear it, and then said, “Mommy, what is this?” I told her to hold on a sec because I wanted to take her picture first.

Then I explained that it’s a horse harness. For a horse with a head as big as our tiny Kennedy.

I hope her other students are more responsive than this one.

[Look at Cooper's eyes, like, "Seriously?"]

Carlee has had quite a time adjusting to our new schedule since the school year started this week. I never really noticed how attached she is to her “Bubba” until he went away for Kindergarten. These pics represent a very common occurrence during lunch/after we pick him up from school.
I always wanted an older brother. I’m so glad my girls have one.

Kennedy wanted to wear some of my make-up this morning. I think here she has a little powder and some lip gloss, maybe some eye shadow that also doubled as blush.
She does her own make-up. At least for now.

Colby’s first day of Kindergarten.

Oh my he’s so grown up.
He had a fantastic first day and can’t wait to go back.

I am so thankful we got to go to the beach for my birthday weekend. The kids, Kevin & I joined my parents and my sisters for a few days. We hadn’t been all summer, and when we left we had already planned our next trip. To say “we had so much fun” would be such a trite expression, but it’s completely true. Although I couldn’t get my foot wet [so I didn't get to go swimming], I did put a big garbage bag over my foot so I could walk to the beach and hang out to read a book. Beach, book, seafood & family… it doesn’t get much better than that.
So, this is a pic Kevin took from his NEW iPhone4. I got to blow out a pillar candle. [rather, my beautiful children helped me blow it out] :) Then we had homemade ice cream and brownies for my birthday treat. YUM.

I think I finally “get” that birthdays and special occasions are more about Who and How-Often you spend them… not the What and How-Much.

Tonight was parent orientation. I took this pic to show Colby his Kindergarten classroom, which he will see on Wednesday when he meets his teacher. He is so excited.

My mom wears these clips to pull her hair back. Carlee likes to wear them too.

Kennedy asks to ride her bike at least 3 times per day. She is very quick to go get her helmet before she rides. Today, however, she wanted to ride after her bath, but it was too late and very dark outside (plus she was already clean!); instead she modeled her helmet for me.
[I actually think she has it on backwards there...]

I had surgery on my left foot today. Kevin said I was pretty hilarious while I was under anesthesia. After surgery I kept asking these questions:
- “Can I see my foot?” [And when I saw it I said, "Ohhh, it's a foot!"]
- “What time is it?”
- “Did you [Kevin] get to eat breakfast?”
- “Did you text my mom?”
- “Can I have a drink of water?”
- “Aren’t you the nurse who was there for Colby’s surgery?”
[Okay - the last one.. this was the very last thought before I went into surgery, so apparently my subconscious wanted me to remember this - she WAS the nurse who helped us out when Colby broke his arm in October.]
So apparently I asked these questions a Lot. Over. And Over. and Over.
And, here’s my foot con bandage, sans boot. [That will be for another day.]

Well, actually this is the restroom in the library. Colby & Kennedy fight over who gets to push Carlee in the stroller, and Carlee fights having to be in the stroller. Usually our library times only last 10-15 minutes because that’s when Carlee gets tired of riding. I’ll let her out, but usually she runs to the stairs (the children’s section of the Bryan library is on the 2nd floor).
Today when we all got in the elevator, I thought we were going to be stuck.. the kids fought over who got to push the button, so when I lifted Kennedy up to push the button, she refused to push the correct one. Then the elevator shifted uneasily and I started praying… I pushed the button to go down and the elevator shifted again but in the direction of down. Thankfully. Makes me question bringing the stroller again.

This picture shows Kennedy singing into a shower head in the middle of HEB. I can’t decide what’s more cute – her singing into a shower head and thinking it was a microphone, or her singing “Itsy Bitsy Spider”.

Ahh I’ve been outta pocket a while, obviously… so I’m not even going to attempt to title it as the picture of the day! Last night we fired up the sprinklers in the back yard and the kids had a blast getting all wet. Here’s a few pictures.

…but very sweet, nonetheless. Kevin laid down with Colby to try and coax him into an afternoon nap. Colby closed his eyes just before I snapped the pic.
