I love our church’s option for obtaining Halloween candy. We went to the Trunk-or-Treat celebration, which ended well before dark, and our kids were able to participate in a wide variety of activities without being overwhelmed with crowds.
I’m so thankful for all the people who volunteer their equipment and talents for my children’s entertainment.
PS – Colby was Woody from Toy Story, Kennedy was a Barbie princess, and Carlee was Tinkerbell. And Kevin was the photographer. Or, an Aggie fan.

I spent the day in the bed with a virus – fever, chills & aches, plus cold symptoms. The kids came in my bedroom to say goodbye to me as they were headed to Colby’s soccer game.
I think they looked like an ad from the Gap, don’t you?

Carlee’s favorite movie is probably Whee Poppims. Or We Poppin. Or Mee Boppin.
Of course I’m talking about Mary Poppins.
Assume the position to break out in song and dance at any time.

Also on our To Do list today: making and eating pancakes for breakfast [Colby's favorite thing to do on a Friday.], switching our clothes from summer to winter wardrobes, making and freezing food for my foot surgery next week, and trick-or-treating at Capsher (which I skipped because I started running a fever).

Our CBS lesson this week was about Jacob’s favoritism toward his son Joseph. We also could have shown some favoritism to the kids in our class today – there were only 4 present out of 12! So, Kelsey and I got to do Every activity we imagined, including tracing a 3 year-old child and drawing a multi-color coat on him.
Here’s Kennedy’s contribution to the coat.

One of the [many] things I love about Colby’s school is that they allow the students to dress up as their favorite storybook character and then have a school-wide parade. The older classes (6th grade and up) dressed as a theme – Roman & Greek gods, 50s costumes, etc. But Colby’s class was all about the Halloween costumes.
Here’s Woody from Toy Story, and his teacher was Jessie!
And, here’s some other kids in his class who had the same Toy Story ideas.

From the tea party this weekend, we have been playing pretend tea party a lot around our house.
You’re welcome to join us – would you like tea or coffee?

The doorbell rang and who did I find?

Yep, that’s right – bearded Cleopatra and her dalmation puppy.
Yeah, I’m not too sure either.

I forgot I never took a picture of Carlee’s room decorations. I found a package of stick-on flowers on clearance at Target that are pretty easy to remove (but a lot more durable than Kennedy’s dots we bought from Wal-Mart for a quick-fix for her room when we first moved in).
All the kids helped with the designs. It only took a few minutes but there was lots of laughter that day.
What do you think?

Kennedy was invited to a precious birthday tea party for one of her sweet friends today. There was so much cuteness I couldn’t choose 1 or 2 pictures, so you get them all.
First, the girls put on lipstick. Then they kissed a frog [picture]. Then came the tea party, with fancy [and breakable!] tea cups.
[I think I've found what I want to get Kennedy for Christmas...]
Don’t forget the big wax lips for extra effect. And, at the end is the whole group of princesses. Adorable.

I blogged about this concert and effort last year. Here’s the link to Blood:Water mission, which tells a better story than I could try. I love this mission effort in so many ways, but I’ll let you read about them.
Tonight’s concert featured Derek Webb and Shane & Shane. Here’s a pic of Derek Webb.

I was too busy laughing at Shane & Shane to get a pic of them this year. They were hilarious.

Pretty girl.

A kindergartener’s job is never done. Until he passes out at the end of the day.
I told him I’d come back in a minute to sing him a song and say his prayers. This was what I came back to.

Carlee was happy and wild this morning, as was her hair. I started calling her Carlee-Tina.

One of the best things about Colby not taking naps anymore is that he gets to help me with some chores before he goes to play – inside, outside, on the computer, whatever is his preference after his homework is done.
Chores he does by himself at age 5 – washing dishes, putting dishes away, laundry (mainly switching), folding some laundry, putting clothes away, wiping the table and cabinets, setting the table, clearing the table, getting items out of the fridge & pantry.
Today his job was to unload the dishwasher, so he made a few towers while taking all the dishes out and waiting for me to put the breakables away. Colby told me precious stories of how one was bigger than the other but the smaller one needed to help the bigger one because the bigger one wasn’t as strong as the smaller one. I love peeking into a 5 year-old’s mind.
It’s amazing how fast dishes go when I have a helper! [Kennedy can also help unload the dishwasher.. I've already mentioned she's a great helper.]

Also a Colby funny of the day:
me: Colby, what was your Bible verse today?
Colby: Text your mother and father.
me: What?
Colby: I mean, Honor your mother and father, Text-odus 20:12.
Text-odus = Exodus. :)

I think I’ve found my kids’ new favorite treats… Suckers.

These suckers came from our preschool minister’s office. She has a sign on her office door that says “I have suckers.” The kids can’t read it anyway, but it is pretty funny to the adults.
