Jenna. Sep 15. More Reading.
After her bath, our little nekkid jaybird escaped from our reaches and this is where we found her. I can’t exactly call this reading, but I think she’s on to something here.

Kim’s back! For 6 weeks anyway. For this rotation of med school, she’s studying psychiatry in B/CS. Today she came over to jump on the trampoline but it was brutally hot. So, we made smoothies and watched Cars. Then, we colored with markers. Kennedy colored on paper, and Carlee colored on herself.
Then we went and rescued Kim’s car from the service shop where it was being repaired. It was a good day.

Colby is reading! It’s really exciting to hear him read to his little sisters. Of course he’s not reading Chaucer proficiently, but Mr. Brown Can Moo, Can You? by Dr. Seuss was the first book he decided to read by himself. There are some others he’s started in on, including some leveled readers.
I knew he loved books but I am thrilled that he’s learned so much after only 3 weeks in Kindergarten. I won’t pretend I had nothing to do with this, but I love that he has a love for books like I do.

I just thought our older 2 kids liked sweets… but [Carlee] this one takes the cake. Ha.

In honor of the September 11th anniversary, 4 F-18 fighter jets flew over Kyle Field for the Aggie game today. We took the kids to a restaurant parking lot to see the planes fly over, then we jumped in the car and followed them to the airport to watch them land.
Kevin took a great video and posted it on Facebook. These are iPhone pics I took while holding Carlee.
By the way, the kids thought the planes were really cool. So did I.

I used random.org to generate the winner, which is comment #2 – Danielle! I have sent an email to her confirming her winnings.

Carlee is 22 months old today. I still can’t get a picture of her with my iPhone that isn’t blurry. Today we put her hair up in a high ponytail. She looks so much like a little red-headed Cindy Lou Who [from The Grinch who Stole Christmas].

Ever since I asked Kennedy if she wanted to take dance lessons, she’s been asking when she could go. Today was the first day. I couldn’t believe how cute she was in her leotard & tights. Okay, that’s a lie, of course I could believe how cute she was. But she did remind me of pictures I’ve seen of myself when I was 3 and starting dance lessons.
Such a cutie – say cheese!
And, with her teacher Ms. Suzanne standing right behind her.

MyBlogSpark gave me the opportunity to try one of Yoplait’s newest creations. Yoplait Splitz is available in 3 different flavors – Rainbow Sherbet, Strawberry Banana Split, & Strawberry Sundae. When I redeemed my coupon, all that was left at the store was Rainbow Sherbet, and I have to say I wasn’t totally thrilled with it. However, given the assumed popularity of the other 2 flavors, I’d love to be able to try them if they were in stock. Even though Rainbow Sherbet was too sweet for my taste, the kids and I did like having a fun snack together.
I am excited to be able to give away a prize package from Yoplait through MyBlogSpark – a coupon for a free package of Yoplait Splitz, an insulated tote bag, & a roll up fleece picnic blanket.
Would you like to win this prize package? Leave a comment by this Friday, September 10th, with your name, email address, & the flavor of Yoplait Splitz you’d most like to try. I’ll pick a winner at random early Saturday morning, so you have a little over 48 hours to enter.
Disclaimer: MyBlogSpark provided me this prize package for review and promotion, but I have not been compensated. All opinions are 100% mine.

There seems to be a theme running here…
[Colby & Kennedy think this object is a medicine dropper.]

“You’ve just (fill in the blank with a random accomplishment) – what are you going to do now?”
We’re going to Disney World!!!!
Colby was so excited, he had to don the Mickey Mouse ears and show me his cars [Pixar]… I won’t say when we’re going, but you’ll see pictures here for sure. One thing I will say – it’s never too early to start planning a Disney vacation. It’s kind of cult-ish to think about the number of books I’ve read on the right parks to visit on which day and which attractions to ride first and which character breakfast to book. My head is kind of spinning.

Look who I got to kiss when the Aggies scored!
A&M beat SFA 48-7. Gig ‘em, Aggies.

Today we recognized Jackie Sue Stephenson [my mom] as being the handbell director at our church for the past 25 years. 36 of us who were under her direction came to ring together. We welcomed Cynthia Dobrinski as the guest director this weekend. Ms. Dobrinski is incredibly accomplished and quite the celebrity in the handbell world. Handbell ringers seem to flock to her compositions and in our church handbell group we’ve tended to prefer her pieces over many other composers.
So, here’s the group in warmup.
And here’s Ms. Dobrinski, in the flesh. She’s standing next to a bell ringer, in the wooden capacity.
After this rehearsal, we all enjoyed a lunch and told stories of old. I am so grateful for my mom, for many reasons. I love ringing handbells and making beautiful music to the Lord, and I’m thankful that she was able to bring this ministry to our church. Here’s to another 25 years, Mom!
