Jenna. Jun 15. Sky.

This is Sky Week at the Project.  While I haven’t felt like getting out much due to my liver condition, we did go grab smoothies tonight and saw the beginning of a beautiful sunset.

Jenna. Jun 14. Master Bath Paint.

If you don’t remember the Before pictures of the bathroom, please PLEASE click them before you read this.

I love how this room turned out and I feel so posh and spa-like when I brush my teeth and take a bath.

Jenna. Jun 13. Kennedy’s Room Paint.

I think this might be the best painted room in the house.  [That is, the painters did the best job on this room.]

And here’s the cutie in the bed.  [By the way, Amanda made her quilt and I love it so much, it might have been the inspiration for the colors I picked for her walls.]

Jenna. Jun 12. Out of control.

I’m not even sure where to start today’s report.  I have been nauseous, itching all over my body (but there’s no rash) and my urine is dark-colored, almost the color of tea.  Since it’s Saturday, I couldn’t make an appointment to see a doctor, but in the end I’m glad I went ahead to the ER, because they had to take blood and urine tests and then do an ultrasound to see what was happening with me.  [On top of this, I started running a fever with chills.]

Last week I had some of the same symptoms, but I stopped taking the medicine I was prescribed by my dermatologist, and I felt better.  Then, I started taking it again, which turned out to be the secret of my demise.  You see, for about 5 weeks now I’ve been taking a medicine called Solodyn for my acne.  It has helped my acne but hurt my body greatly.

So before going to the ER, I called my friend Lindsey who is in residency for dermatology.  I told her what I had been prescribed and what I was experiencing.  She didn’t know why in the world I had been prescribed that, because of all the side effects involved.  She also said to go quickly to get it checked out.

The ER doc came and told me that the medicine had greatly affected my liver function.  (The technical term for my diagnosis is “hepatitic insufficiency”.)  He also said my white blood cell count was very very low.  So, he told me to stop taking the medicine (which I thought was a big fat “duh”).  Then the doctor sent me home with a written prescription for nausea medicine and told me to drink lots of water to flush out all the toxins.  And now I’m noticing that my skin is really yellow, like a baby with jaundice.  My dad says this is what hepatitis does to you.

It really has taken quite a toll on me, but I’m thankful that my kids have been so well-behaved so I can rest.  I’ve been sleeping probably 16 hours the past few days, and now I know why.  At first I thought I was pregnant, and I think I would rather be pregnant than to have to go through this, but at the same time I’m learning a lot about what to put into my body and what not to.  But I’m glad it’s not both… I couldn’t imagine carrying a child while going through this.

I’m also thinking about alcoholics, who continuously mess up their livers by drinking day in and day out.  Why would you want to do this?  I can tell you, liver insufficiency ain’t fun.  Not a bit.

So, I would appreciate your prayers, that I could get back to normal asap.  The Mama doesn’t have time to be sick.

And if you’re wondering about this pic, Colby took it right before I decided to go to the ER.  It kind of describes the kind of day I had.

Jenna. Jun 11. “Onnn the Boaaaaaard!”

That’s what Colby thinks the train conductor is saying (instead of “All aboard”).

Here is the train ride of the day.

Jenna. Jun 10. Water Play Day.

The kids got to participate in a water play day for the last night of VBS.  The activities included playing hide-and-seek in a box, washing the toys, and sliding on the water slide.

To say they had fun would be an understatement.

Jenna. Jun 9. Cowpoke.

After VBS tonight (and his bath), I made him put on his Saddle Ridge Ranch gear again to take his picture.

Jenna. Jun 7. VBS Assembly.

It’s the beginning of June, and if you are a member of a church in the Bible Belt, you know what time it is… Vacation Bible School!  (Remember the Wanted poster?)

Here’s a pic of the back of Colby’s class just before we say the Pledge of Allegiance.  Notice Colby starting to climb all over the pew?  His class of almost-Kindergartners sat in the back of the worship center for that very reason.

Jenna. Jun 6. Smoovies.

One of the best things I love about summer is the availability of fresh fruit.  Yummmm.  And, then if the fruit gets a little soft (or if you just want to make one!), you throw it in the blender to make a smoothie!

[Just let me know if you're tired of the kid-speak.  Kennedy calls them "smoooovies".]

Kevin made this one today with strawberries, orange juice, vanilla yogurt, and then I added a bit of Splenda.  He threw it all in the blender and then realized our blender is broken.  [Doh!]  So he transferred everything into the food processor and made a “roughy”.  (Get it; smoothie vs. roughy?)

Anyone have a good blender recommendation?

Jenna. Jun 5. One Year Later.

Today marks the date we closed on our house one year ago.  What a year it has been…  I can’t believe I love a house so much.

The first few nights we slept in the new house, I woke up thinking, “I really live here?  Really?”  It is my dream house and I still can’t believe we live here.  God has blessed us beyond what I could have ever imagined.

If you haven’t been here yet, it’s your own fault.  :)   We try to have someone over every week, if not more.  You are welcome anytime.

[I know I haven't finished the inside pics yet, but since I've been posting pics of the inside for awhile now, here's one Kevin took today of the outside.  We really have been working hard on the landscaping so that will get its own day.]

Jenna. Jun 4. Naked Lady.

AAAAHHHH!!!  THERE’S A NAKED LADY IN MY BED!

Let this be a lesson for what I will do to you if YOU show up naked in my bed.

(You should also know that this doll is about the length of my pointer finger, even with her head on.)

Jenna. Jun 3. Adjustments.

By now you must know that my grandfather, dad, and sister Alicia are all chiropractors.  (The fact that Alicia will be graduating next year is a mere technicality.)  This means there are a whole lotta adjustments goin’ on in our family.  It also means my kids love to play Adjustments, where one of them will say, “Hey, give me an adjustment!” which prompts them to lie down motionless on whatever it is they are playing on – the floor, the bed, the couch, or in this case the dress-up trunk.

Colby was the chiropractor today.  My kids lay ridiculously still for adjustments because they know how good adjustments are for their health.

Jenna. Jun 2. Pockorn.

The kids and I went to the Summer Movie Clubhouse at Cinemark today.  We watched Madagascar 2.  I bought passes for $5 each, so we’ll see 10 movies for that price.  (Although, I’m kind of ticked that I had to pay for Carlee, since she’s not even occupying a seat.)

On the right is the large popcorn tub.  On the left is a gallon ziploc bag of 2/3 of the contents of the large popcorn tub.   I spent $6.50 on the popcorn, which was refilled once.  Now we’ll eat the leftovers for the rest of the week for snack.

I’m just wondering if I should spend the $6.50 every week, or if I should pack other snacks instead?  Is it worth the $?

[PS - Kennedy calls it "pockorn".  Carlee calls it "poporn".  Colby calls it "mmmm".]

Jenna. Jun 1. Kevin Quiltpants.

Tonight was date night.  We ate at Cracker Barrel, then went to Macy’s to exchange some items. Kevin was pretty excited about these pants, found near the golf-wear section.

[Note:  item pictured is NOT what was exchanged Nor purchased.]
