Colby has never seen the movie Zoolander, but it seems like he has taken a page from Zoolander’s model pose book. Lately whenever I ask Colby to smile, he gives me this face.

He also knows that this face makes me laugh, so he does it pretty often.

[I hate that I keep moving my hand when I'm so excited to take a picture! His face is so sweet and the picture he is holding is priceless; I just wish he would make the same face on "take 2".]
This was Colby’s last day at Community Bible Study. He has been a part of CBS since he was 2 years old, and since he’ll be in Kindergarten this fall, this was a sad day for his mama. His sweet teachers gave him a picture of his Red Lambs class and asked him what he learned at CBS.
His response: “I learned that Jesus listened to God. I liked learning about Noah and that God flooded the earth. I like to do good things.”
Colby has been asking lots of questions about asking Jesus into his heart. I love hearing what he is thinking and trying to help him understand deep theology. He ends up teaching me more than I think I teach him.

Colby’s preschool took a trip to Texas A&M’s Pearce Pavilion. Each year they hold a children’s barnyard event and have penned animals to show. [And not-so-penned baby chicks that are now scarred for life from 60 3-4 year-olds holding them.]
Some of the other animals were: a milking cow, a beef cow with her calf (which I’m assuming will also be for beef/veal?), sheep, pigs, & a miniature horse (pictured with Colby). The John Deere tractor was a big hit with all the kids, as were the ice cream sandwiches they provided for snacks.
I do not know what I would have done if Aunt Alicia hadn’t come along with us. Watching 3 kids going in 3 different directions just wasn’t happening that day. Thank the Lord she had a few days off and was willing to go with us that morning!

Colby took this picture of Carlee’s chair.

One day Kennedy pointed to this chair and said, “Watch that chair, it’s fiesty.”
Wonder where she’s heard that word before?

I’m doing a self-imposed [Colby] theme this week, being the week before his 5th birthday. Some will be pics he has taken with my iPhone but I’ll try to get him in a pic most days.
Today I caught him being so sweet to his baby sister. And yes, he really is this nice to her and helps and hugs her a lot. But he usually doesn’t stay this still, so I was glad to nab this pic.

I guess no one in this pic got my VeggieTales reference from The Dance of the Cucumber. [This is Micki throwing up the "peace" sign.]

Tonight our handbell choir played at a new church near downtown Bryan called The Bridge. We enjoyed ourselves immensely and the nice congregation even fed us afterward.
I of course was ringing during the performance and forgot to take pictures of the whole group before or after. But, I thought this one was hilarious.

I sent Kevin to Target to get these items.

After coupons and rebates, he made 13 cents. I won’t disclose how many phone calls and rolled eyes he gave me. But, he now understands my addiction. I think.

This is what time it was when we got the kids to bed tonight.

Tonight we had a Sunday school potluck fellowship and baby blessing for a newborn at our house. We had a fabulous time with about 10 other couples from our class. The theme of the night was a good old-fashioned potluck, but I still sent out a signup sheet so there would at least be more vegetables than desserts. I loved seeing what everyone brought, from soups and salads to crawfish dips to lemon cheesecakes (my fave!). I made homemade pizza and provided Diet Dr. Pepper, my latest drink of choice.
The kids stayed at church for Xtreme Night; they enjoyed it and were ready for bed. But, when they stay at church from 6-9 pm, you don’t get to bathe them beforehand, so we still had to take care of this when we got home. [The allergens are unbelievable this year in BCS... and combined with Carlee's eczema, bathing is not optional, even when it's late.]

I have a confession to make. I love doing laundry. It’s not “fun”, per se, but I’ll tell you my secret: I wash/dry all the clothes over a few days’ time and then I’ll save them until Kevin and I can watch our favorite tv shows together. Usually it takes 1-2 shows for me to fold all the clothes you see here. Putting them away is a different story.
[The spot in the middle of the couch is where I sit when I fold. This pic represents 7 loads of laundry. Not pictured is an additional load of clothes I hung up already and a load of underwear I thought I'd spare you from seeing.]
PS – One other organizational thing people always ask me about – each of my kids has a small bin where I’ll put their clean clothes when I fold them. I keep this in the laundry room on a shelf above the dryer. That way, if I see a stray article of clothing, I can keep it in the bin without having to walk to their rooms to put it away. Plus, the baskets have taught my older 2 how to take their own clothes to their room and put them away – they do a really great job with help!

I was so very glad to walk into Colby’s room and see this.

[I've been sick all week and lying on the couch never felt as good as it did today. Colby let me have a nap while his sisters napped and I would have made him cookies to thank him, but he was okay with playing games on my iPhone instead. What a great kid.]

In case you missed Writing (part 1), I’ve been writing for a few weeks now as a guest contributor for 5 Minutes for Parenting. Here are the links to the other articles I’ve written since then.
It’s in the couch cushions.
How did I get here? A quiz!
Welcome Spring, I hope you die.

And, I’ve been asked to become a regular contributor! [My "day" is Friday, just so you'll be expecting it.]
You can see my bio at Meet the Parents. From now on I’ll post my articles here on my blog, but you can still go to the 5M4M site to read them. And, please comment there too!

Kim taught the kids how to make s’mores with this cool little contraption . (which we get to provide a home for while Kim moves away to do her residency next year.) Kennedy was far more interested in burning marshmallows than actually eating them, and Colby & Carlee just wanted to eat the graham crackers. So, I got to be the winner in this scenario – more melted marshmallows and chocolate left for me!

We all had wonderful amounts of s’mores left on our faces. Now I need to go buy some more ingredients to make them again.

Remember Kennedy in the basket? Meet her twin, Kennedy-in-the box. Just turn the handle and wait for her to pop out at you.

Kevin’s birthday present this year was a Wii. [A combination of years of Best Buy gift certificates and my willingness to let there be video games in our house - I only wanted a Wii so at least I could get the fitness version to go along with it. Now I just have to figure out how to turn the dang thing on.]
Here’s Tim & Kevin helping Colby & Kennedy play Super Mario Kart. Tim & Kevin had a rematch after the kids went to bed.

Today was Kevin’s company picnic. We had a great time eating and talking with the families there, but if we ever couldn’t find one of the kids, it was most likely because they were on this contraption pictured. Whoever invented these things was a genius.
Here’s Kevin with Carlee – see her smile?

And, all done – pointing for more!
