365 Project. Day 13. Viagra® Cake.

Today’s adventure included a 50th Birthday celebration for my boss. He’s always messing with us, so we got him back by getting him a cake shaped like a Viagra® pill.

Jenna. Day 12. Home Gym.

My living room.  All you need for a good workout is a mat, a set of hand weights, and Bob Harper from the Biggest Loser workout DVDs.  (Even though that’s a picture of Jillian.)

365 Project. Day 12. The Inmates Are Running The Asylum.

This is me reading The Inmates Are Running The Asylum. This is a book related to technology, specifically software, and how most programmers just go about doing it wrong. So far a really good read (not that many of you would even desire to read this!).

Jenna. Day 11. Mashed Potato Goodness.

This is the inside of my mixing bowl.  Tonight I made the best mashed potatoes known to man.  And here is the recipe.

8 med. to large butter gold potatoes, peeled and quartered
6 large carrots, peeled and cut in half

Put veggies into vegetable steamer for 45 mins.  If you don’t have a steamer, shame on you.  I guess you could boil the veggies but I strongly recommend you jump into your car and go buy a vegetable steamer.

Once the veggies are steamed/cooked, place into a mixing bowl.  Add:
1 c milk (I used skim.)
4 T (or more if desired) butter
S&P to taste

Mix.  Add sour cream or more milk if texture is too tough.  I like mine somewhere between potato soup and roasted potatoes.

This is slap-yo-mama, get-out-of-bed-in-the-middle-of-the-night-to-eat-straight-out-of-the-bowl-with-your-fingers good.

365 Project. Day 11. Sunset of fire.

Driving home from work tonight I caught this sunset. It looked like a tidal wave of fire about to consume the university.

365 Project. Day 10. Me, my camera, and a more thorough intro.

Today’s “challenge” on the project is to take a picture of ourself, our “weapon” (camera), and how we know Amanda- the creator of the project. This is me. My name is Kevin. The best camera is the one that is with you, and today I had my camera of choice with me, which is my Canon 5D Mark II. Unfortunately I can’t carry it around with me all the time so many of my pictures are taken with my iPhone.

A little about me:
- First and foremost, I’m a believer and follower of Jesus Christ.
- Secondly, I’m a husband, married to my beautiful bride, Jenna (who is also posting here!)
- Thirdly, I’m a father. I’ve got three of the greatest kids of all time. Colby is 4.5, Kennedy is 2.5, and Carlee just turned 14 months today.

Some other things…
- I’m a software consultant, which means I write custom software for companies who can’t find what they need “off the shelf”.
- I love photography. I spend way to much money on gear that doesn’t make me any better. I’m looking forward to this year to get me to look for new perspective, create pictures, and perfect my style.
- I play percussion and love music. I taught percussion at the local high school, which is how I met Amanda.
- Amanda is also a long time friend of my wife. We were all in percussion studio together.

Jenna. Day 10. Me.

I’m standing in our bathroom, taking a pic of myself in the dress I wore to kevin’s company Christmas party.

Today is intro day on the Project. Intro-ing me and my camera of choice [ahem, my iPhone because it's always with me!].

365 Project. Day 8. Carlee.

Carlee was eating some really sour grapes tonight, I was trying to catch her face but she just kept laughing at me.

Jenna. Day 8. It’s snowing!… sort of.

We have been hearing ALL WEEK about how cold it is going to get in Bee-See-Ess.  “Lows of 18 degrees!  Everyone storm your local Home Depot to get stuff to wrap your pipes!  Or, steal your neighbor’s stuff!”  (That really happened to a friend of mine.  Seriously.  Move up north and don’t leave a forwarding address.)  I kept hearing on Facebook that “If only we had snow, the cold weather would be complete!”

Today our friend from church Kim, who is an A&M Med Student, comes over periodically to jump on our trampoline.  It was way too cold to jump outside (even our northern neighbors would agree, with the North wind), so she brought snow instead. You know the kind they sell in the mall? You add water and it grows in your hand. I think I took the picture too early, before the snow had fully formed. But, the kids were impressed.  And Kim loved sharing it with my kids.  Colby even threw a few handfuls up in the air, so I’d call that “snowing”, wouldn’t you?

365 Project. Day 7. Cool Tile.

Went to Chili’s for lunch today with some of the guys to discuss stuff for work. This was the tile on the table.

I only put one of these up at the Project. But here are the rest.

365 Project. Day 6. Date Night.

Jenna and I went to see Avatar tonight. Ok so I’ll admit it was a little over the top on the tree hugging (not that I don’t love trees…) and a bit anti-military, but the special effects and animation were amazing.

A Colby Funny

The best conversations with kids happen right at bedtime.  I’m pretty sure it’s a stall tactic so they won’t have to go to bed.  But, this one happened tonight.

Colby:  Ma, [Yep.  Still calls me Ma.  Thanks, Aunt Alicia.] what is Christmas about?

Me:  Christmas is about Jesus.  We got to celebrate Jesus’s birthday, remember?

Colby:  Christmas is my favorite.  Is it the big Jesus’s birthday or the little one?

Me:  It’s the same Jesus.  When Jesus was born, he was a baby, but then he grew up to be a man like your daddy used to be a baby but now he’s a man.  But it’s the same person.  *long pause*  Do you have any more questions?

Colby:  Nope.  Just boogers.
