Colby started PreK yesterday. He goes to a half-day school close to our house on MWF mornings. They emphasize Kindergarten readiness but also teach a hands-on Bible curriculum too. And, he has a special music class each week and time in centers each day. The school has a neat covered playground that he loves. I also pack him a lunch to eat at school, so he gets to practice his table manners.
He had a fabulous day yesterday and was all smiles when I picked him up. He said his favorite time was circle time where they learned about the calendar and that “today was Wednesday”. His teachers are really kind and I am looking forward to getting to know them.
Here are some pictures of his first day, getting ready to go and Kennedy helping him pose for the shots (and putting on Daddy’s socks). I was worried about Colby adjusting to school, but Kennedy had a tougher time yesterday than he did. After we dropped him off, she cried all the way to the car and all the way home because she wanted to stay at school with her Bubba. It made me sad but now I know they really do love each other!

Our town made the national news last month (Sorry the link button is broken, but the story is here – http://www.justicenewsflash.com/2009/08/03/el-dorado-chemical-company-smoke_200908031806.html) when a chemical plant exploded and we were forced to evacuate our homes on a Thursday afternoon. (For fear of smoke inhalation.) Despite having many dinner invitations (the people in CS didn’t have to evacuate), we left our house with the dog, filled up the car with gas, ate snacks from a convenience store, and then sat in the mall parking lot while I fed Carlee. Then the kids had to go potty, so I took them in to Sears and snapped these pics. All in all the trip took about an hour, and it actually was kind of fun to have Kevin home for a little longer in the craziness.
Colby is hugging Cooper, but Cooper isn’t smiling. I could make up a story here, but Cooper is just territorial. Grrrr.

Well, Jenna’s birthday was about 2 weeks ago, but I’m just now getting the pictures off the camera. We had two different celebrations. The first one was with some friends, mostly ladies and their families from Jenna’s prayer group. I cooked hamburgers and ordered a cake from Sandee at Cinderella Stories. I was also Clay’s birthday two days before, so his name is on the cake too. He got brown, Jenna got pink.

We had another party about a week later with Jenna’s family. We had lasagna and cookie cake, two of Jenna’s favorites! We were fresh out of birthday candles (oops), so we had to make do with these two clearly unevenly burned white candles.

Happy Birthday to you, babe!

Each year we go to an Astros game with Kevin’s fellow work buddies. This year we brought Aunt Alicia so we could have man-to-man defense.
The game was fun but the kids spent most of the time at the Kids Zone.

Three kiddos in the tub! If I thought getting them to hold still in daddy’s lap was tough…
