Our Life as Magnets
July 27th, 2009
This is probably the best, smartest, funniest and wittiest thing Colby has ever done….
A few months ago my MOPS group made quarter-sized magnets to put on the fridge. Colby has taken it upon himself to use these magnets as his “clocking in and out” system. (or if you’ve ever read Eat, Pray, Love… this is his grid.)
He has done this so much that he even dialogues actual conversations that have happened. He cracks me up.
For example, this picture was taken when Colby and Kennedy were outside jumping on the trampoline, and Mommy & Daddy were inside taking care of Carlee. Colby says things like, “Okay, Mommy, you stay inside, and I’ll go take Kennedy outside with me.”
Sometimes when I have to feed Carlee, he’ll put Carlee and me together, then Colby and Kennedy together, then Kevin off on the other door, because “Daddy’s at work.”
I’ve even heard him go through a conversation Kevin and I had one day,
Me: “Kevin Grubbs, why don’t you pick up your shoes off the floor?”
Kevin: “I need those; we’re about to leave.”
Me: “Well put them on your feet then!”
(I had no idea Colby was even listening!)
Here, Colby decided on his own to map out everyone’s beginning letter of their name. (Of course Kevin and I are Daddy and Mommy.) And here it looks like he’s the teacher (or preacher?) and we are listening to him.
And here we are riding sheep. Colby said, “Hang on, Mommy!”
And the Grubbs Family as a Christmas tree.

he’s SO. SMART!
you can tell when he talks that his brain goes faster than his mouth can. this is SUCH a great way that he’s developed to communicate and process.
