Presidential Elections
November 14th, 2007
It only comes once every four years. No, not the Olympics.
How many of you voted on November 6th? Yes, of this year? I didn’t either. It saddens me that the American public casts more votes for American Idol than the American president. Yes, I know it’s far easier to vote for Idol and you can vote more than once, but I would hope more people would make an effort to vote for the most important leader of the free world.
More people our age (24-32) are getting on the bandwagon. We are tired of complacency and want action. I’m not talking about party lines, I’m talking about some unnecessary things the government is doing with our money – Social Security, taking too long in Iraq, death penalty vs. life in jail.. . Do I have your attention yet?
I haven’t given much thought to who I will vote for yet, and yes I know it’s still a year away. But I do know there needs to be change. I’m borrowing this link from the Supers. I had some interesting but not shocking results… Let me know what yours were.
And, here’s an interview with Ron Paul that I found compelling. Again, I am not supporting any candidate yet. I’ll let you know when I know.

That was very interesting! I also do not know who in the world I will be voting for next year. Maybe that will actually force me to pay attention to each candidate’s platforms.

my top candidate was mccain, then hunter. i feel so unprepaired for this upcoming election! it worries me that i really don’t know anything about the candidates i’m supposed to agree with. one thing clinton [gag] and obama are doing right [or, rather, left] is getting their name out there. they’re actually advertising on MYSPACE! i think so many people my age will lean towards their platforms simply because they don’t know any other.
anyway, i’m definitely going to have to do some research before this next election. i was much more prepaired for the last election than i am for this one.

Oh, and let me tell you how weird it will be that Katrina will be able to vote for President???? (She turns 18 in February.) I’m feeling really old right now.

Say WHAT?! Katrina is just 12! Oh wait, that’s how old she was when I MET her.
Mine turned out Mitt Romney. Unfortunately I don’t really know anything about anyone except Mike Huckabee since he was governor of the state that I now live in. He seems to be a pretty good guy.

Wait, no. She was younger than that. However old she was in Spring 2000… so 10 or 11. Good grief.

so…. don’t excommunicate me…. but i think i might actually register democrat and vote in the democratic primary. i know, i know…. but it might be the only thing that i can do to ensure that hilary does NOT live in the white house. if she doesn’t win the primary, then i’ll be happy and i can vote for whomever i want in the actual election. in fact, i think i might be able to handle ANYONE being president except hilary. and if she does win, i might volunteer for four years in the peace corps…. so let’s start a movement: vote democrat in the primary! and vote AGAINST hilary!!
