Okay, went to the doctor today… I’m 3 cm dilated and 80% effaced. My mom says at this rate I have 7 more weeks to go! :) Doctor says the baby weighs about 7 pounds now and that things are looking good. He said to call him when contractions are 7-8 minutes apart, instead of the normal 4-5 minutes… He’s thinking things will progress quickly once they start. And, I hope he’s right!
Tomorrow, March 30th, is Kevin’s birthday! So, we’ll see if Baby Girl really IS a Daddy’s Girl. Last night she was moving and moving and moving like crazy. I picked up Kevin’s hand for him to feel her and she completely stopped. The doctor says Kevin has a calming effect on her. Guess who gets to handle the midnight diaper changes?
Speaking of, his birthday cake is in the oven and the timer’s going off. Yellow cake with chocolate icing. (Well, the yellow cake is in the oven, not the icing.. that comes later.) This is Kevin’s favorite. Thank the Lord for Betty Crocker.

….okay, you name it, and I’ve tried it. For inducing labor, that is. I recently heard about the foot massage thing and even though I have an anti-foot fetish, I let Kevin rub my feet. He is actually really good at foot massage; I should have conquered my fear of feet earlier! He has Googled reflexology and knows all the pressure points that are supposed to put me in labor. …… Now we wait.
The thunderstorms just started a few hours ago, and they are doing something for my contractions… I’m tired of having contractions… I’ve had a few (or more) per day for the past 6 weeks at least. Combined with chasing after an almost-two-year old and not sleeping at night, I’m exhausted. I can’t get comfortable with all this extra weight… and I have to pee every 3 hours. And, I know I’ll be even more tired once Baby Girl gets here from feeding her and changing her every 2.5 hours!
I should have put a disclaimer on the beginning of this post - warning: if you are thinking of having kids or if you are already pregnant, you should not read this. :) I promise that not everything is this bad; I’m complaining and I know “this too shall pass”. My pregnancy with Colby was not so strenuous… I don’t know what it is about this girl! I know she will be sweet and beautiful though, once we finally get to see her!
In happier news, Kevin, my parents, Katrina, and my Aunt Charlotte helped to paint Baby Girl’s room this weekend! I was super excited to get started on that. Even though it’s not finished, they made a lot of progress on it, and it will be done soon. Let me restate that I did NOT paint the room; I was the “go-fer” - going for more paint, going for lunch, going to get this and that around the house… and we traded off making sure Colby didn’t stick his feet in the paint.
So, yay for family and yay for an almost-done baby’s room! We are already way ahead of where we were in being ready to bring Colby home… all my thank-you notes are written (so far!), our bags are packed for the hospital, I have diapers organized and sorted, and her clothes are washed and/or hung in her closet. We are ready for baby! (Famous last words.)
Thank you all for your prayers for us. We definitely feel them. Please continue to pray for a healthy baby girl and a safe and speedy delivery. Emphasis on the speedy.

…can anyone tell me what that jingle was for? Extra points if you can “sing” the song…
So I’m on the hunt for good tv shows because the ones we have been watching have really started to go downhill. Too much violence and nudity, not to mention all the innuendos, suggestive material, guns… there’s also just a very weird overtone on some shows.
Anyway, I am looking for seasons of shows that I can watch because I’ll be nursing for a while (hopefully) and not really wanting to do much else but sit and look at my baby girl and let my cares and worries be drowned out by tv. So, this has to be kid-friendly tv (or movies will work too) because Colby will probably be in the room. Right now on my list are “Mad About You” and “Frasier”, which are both shows that I never watched when they were on prime time but now that I’ve caught a few episodes on re-runs, they’re really funny! (I love syndicated tv.) I’m also looking for funny stuff; shows/movies I don’t have to concentrate too hard to figure out… but if you have any good suggestions for those, let me know in a separate category. Anyone have any other suggestions?
If Colby could choose the show, hands down he’d pick the “Cars” movie. He calls it “Eye-ning Mmm”, which of course means “Lightning Car”. Cars say Mmm, if you didn’t know. He watches the movie for like 10-15 minutes right before his nap sometimes, and he’s totally silent while watching. I’ll talk to him about it a little bit, but then once I turn it off to go to sleep, he starts telling me all the things he has just seen… in complete sentences!… and I think I understand like 15% of it.
Such a funny guy.
And since I’m telling Colby stories, I am so excited for his baby sister to get here because I want to watch how sweet he’s going to be with her. I washed a bunch of her clothes and blankets so we could pack a few things for the hospital. He has taken to this one pink outfit.. he’ll carry it around with him and say, “Baby Sister clothes.” and then he’ll drape it over my stomach. He also tries to feed her cheerios and milk through my belly button. He also practically undresses me when we’re in public and someone mentions baby sister.. he has to “see” her, and he can’t do that unless my belly is bare. I have a really sweet picture of him uncovering my tummy to give her kisses, and I’m putting it in her baby book to remind them when they’re older and fighting that they really did love each other, once upon a time.

People have been asking me if I have been sleeping well at night. The answer has been no, but last night I got some Really good sleep. Then Kevin and I went to the doctor today and I told him he looked tired. I asked if he slept well last night and he said,
“I had to pull out the ear plugs.”
Well, apparently I’ve been hit with pregnancy-induced snoring. There’s actually such a thing! I asked the doctor about it and he said, “When you’re pregnant, basically everything inside of you swells.” (Surprise, surprise…) So my nasal passages are larger than usual, thus causing the need to snore. That, and the fact that I can’t complete a REM cycle for having to go to the bathroom every 1.5 hours, makes me very tired and wanting to sleep even more.
Today I also took a 30-minute nap on the couch, after the doctor’s visit. I woke up to find Cooper sniffing my face. I guess he had heard me snoring and was making sure I was okay, with this strange noise coming out of me. (At night Cooper can put his blanket over his head, but he knows not to get on the bed when we’re in it. Kevin said he tried to put a blanket over his own head but it didn’t work… even through the earplugs and the blanket, I snored on.)
I will say one thing for Kevin’s lack of sleep. He was wise as to not wake me up. Never wake a sleeping pregnant lady. My doctor even said so.
Oh, and by the way, my doctor checked me today. I am 1 cm dilated and 60% effaced. Due date’s in 4 weeks but I don’t think I’ll make it. Wahoo! My guess is + or - 2 weeks. Anyone wanna take bets?
