I love giving my dog a bath.

I’m just not sure he enjoys it as much as I do… I love the way Cooper looks like a completely new dog after a bath! He feels so soft and fuzzy too.

However, today I wanted to wring his neck because as soon as he got done, he proceeded to run outside and roll around in the dirt, creating mud all over his back. He knew he was in trouble too, when he came to the door with his tail between his legs.

Oh well, so much for that. He does shed a lot and when I bathe him, the bathroom smells like wet dog for a little bit. (I know, I know.) So usually I schedule Cooper’s bath on the same day I clean bathrooms. Smart, eh?
Today things were a bit cumbersome while cleaning both dog and bathroom, as Baby Girl got a little bit in the way. I swear she’s sticking straight out and has her arms behind her head, like she’s lounging in the pool or something. (yes, pun intended.) She really has dropped a lot quickly, so her feet aren’t in my lungs anymore. Just as long as I don’t go into labor today, the day before we go into the new church!

Speaking of, it’s 10 pm. Do I know where my husband is? Yes, at the new church. How long will he be there? Maybe until Jesus comes. Or until they can get the sound system working like it’s supposed to, whichever comes first. The past 7 nights, he has come home around 11 pm, on average… I think he may have to take off Monday just to recuperate (sp?) from the long week!

Mooovin’ on up! To the east side…

…I never really realized that we were moving to the east side, but we are…

Anywho, First Baptist, Bryan, has a new location! 1400 Cambridge Drive, on the bypass just behind Lowe’s and Wal-Mart. Right now Kevin is somewhere between there and the “old” church, making sure all the media equipment made the move ok. There’s still a ton of work to do, but I am confident things will look great for Sunday, our first in the new building.

This past Sunday was a little bittersweet, in that we had to say goodbye to the only building I have ever known for a church. The sanctuary where we worshipped was actually dedicated the year I was born, and I never changed churches when I went to A&M, so I truly have never “been” to another church in my lifetime. Besides all the church programs we did there (Living Christmas Tree, other Christmas and Easter programs, etc.) I got baptized and married there, we dedicated Colby there… lots of memories happened in that building.

BUT! It’s just a building! I am so glad that we were able to sell that thing (the building) to the county, because all the downtown buildings seem to belong to the county anyway and we were getting landlocked. Plus, after you’ve been in one location for 140 years, things start to fall apart. Kevin’s prayer for the last few months has been for things to just stay the way they are… he has had to fix many a power point machine and projectors lately and was getting tired of it. Now he has to learn how to run new stuff, but it’s much cooler and works much better.

Our children’s minister has had to reiterate to the kids that the people will be the same, but we’re just relocating to a new building.  (Some have a fear of moving and losing all their friends.)  Nancy says, “We’ll have the same tables and chairs and friends and teachers, but new glue!”  She’s not kidding, either.  Lots of new supplies.. just like the first day of school.

So, please pray for our new church; we are super excited but we know that only the Lord will fill it – both literally and spiritually. Pray that it will be ready for this first Sunday and pray that people would be drawn to it. We love our centralized location, so we are hoping that it will be a beacon of light for those searching for a church home. Also, we are having an official dedication service in one month, on March 25th, so please pray for all that to come together too! (Oh, and pray that I don’t have a baby on that particular day.. she can come much earlier or a day later but not on that day.) :)

My Handsome Valentine

So I have to brag about Kevin’s Valentine’s “gift” to me… actually, it’s becoming a tradition! For the past 3 years, Kevin has cooked dinner (and cleaned up!), while I’m in charge of making the table pretty and fixing dessert. Last year we took pictures. This year we were too hungry.

Kevin left work early so he could do his grocery shopping, and we agreed that he wouldn’t get me flowers because they’re just too expensive ON Valentine’s Day. I’d rather be surprised with flowers when it’s Not V-day. While the meat was marinating, we took Colby to my parents’ house so that we could talk and get ready for dinner without a toddler at our feet. (Instead, we had the whining dog, but we can send him outside when he misbehaves.) Colby didn’t seem to mind being at Doc & Belle’s; he got up on the counter and said, “Bye-bye, Daddy!” as soon as we got there.

We dressed up, which was kind of a stretch because it’s difficult to make dinner in dressy clothes. But, I put on the dressiest maternity dress I own, and Kevin wore what he wore to work! He looked so nice. :) We had a candlelight dinner on our china, but the best part was definitely dinner. Let me see if I can adequately (and correctly) describe our menu:

  • Peppercorn-crusted Filet Mignon with Port Wine sauce
  • Baked Potato with all the fixin’s
  • Salad :)
  • Green beans seasoned with butter & garlic salt (and maybe dill?)
  • Chocolate Molten Cakes with Whipped Cream (you know, the kind that the chocolate oozes out when you poke your spoon into it?)

Mmmmmm…. it was super good. This is the second year he was cooked this same menu, but I didn’t mind! I requested it. Plus, we listened to Yo-Yo Ma play Vivaldi, which set a great mood. I couldn’t believe how quiet it was in our house… no Colby, no tv, no noise… (Cooper went to sleep.) No wait at a restaurant, no obnoxious waiter interrupting precious conversation, no ordering something weird that I don’t know if I like… This has proven to be the Best Valentine’s gift Ever, which is why it has been repeated for 3 years running! Kevin likes it too because he’s a perfectionist, so cooking is an exceptional talent for him. (Add that to his list!) He told me he might become a chef, in his spare time. Ha. Ha.

How was YOUR Valentine’s Day?

8 weeks left…

Yesterday I hit 32 weeks pregnant, out of 40.  I’m guessing you all can do math.  Everyone in my aerobics class says Baby Girl is coming in 6 weeks.  They would bet money on it if someone would bet against them.  So, I guess this is “crunch time”.  Time to move Colby out of the crib, paint his “new” room, clean out the boy stuff and add some girly stuff.  Oh, and we need to decide on a name, too.  Actually, we think we have her first name, but we have no idea on her middle name.  I guess we really will have to look at her before deciding.

What else do we have to do before she gets here?  I should probably pull out all the stuff from the attic, like my breast pump and the baby blankets & towels.  It’s amazing what all Colby grew out of, and how fast too…  I’m hoping we can reuse most of his stuff, although some of it’s blue.  But, like I’ve been told, “It’s okay for girls to wear blue, but it’s not okay for boys to wear pink.”  I don’t think I’ve heard a truer statement.

We also need to play jigsaw puzzle with the office stuff, since that’s where Colby will be sleeping, and I don’t want to be doing work in his room while he’s napping or sleeping at night.  Some stuff will go into our room and some into our living room, I guess.  We really need a bigger house.  Ready, go.  But for now, we’ll make do.  Then once the baby gets here I will probably complain enough so that we have to buy a bigger house.  :)

I hope you all are enjoying this very cold day.  I’m so glad I got out all my short-sleeved shirts this week, when it was 75 degrees.  Now it’s more like 40 and I am praying my long-sleeved shirts will fit me for just 8 more weeks, give or take a few.. hopefully taking, more than giving.
