So everyone keeps assuring me that Colby’s pain of teething will go away as soon as his first few come in. Well, ladies and gents, this is not the case for the Bubba. I have a feeling that Colby will not be an oral surgeon, dentist, or orthodontist, because of the pain he already feels in his mouth! He now has a grand total of 14 teeth, and Kevin and I just finished putting Orajel on Colby’s gums. Poor Colby.
In other happier news, Colby is now walking! Wahoo! He took his first steps on Sunday, and he has been gaining confidence like crazy ever since. He tries to go really fast, and then when the rest of his body catches up with his feet, it looks like he’s inebriated! Colby crawled for a good 5 months solid, and now that he’s almost 15 months old, he is walking “when he’s good and ready”, like my Uncle Bill says. I am excited that he’s learning to walk, so that he doesn’t have to crawl on the floors or concrete and get dirty anymore. BUT, he’s also getting into Everything. Oh boy!

I would just like to say that this drink tastes like cough syrup. Does anyone out there like it? I’ve got an 11-pack you can have! (Actually, it’s a 10-pack, because I tried one a few weeks ago while I was sick, and it tasted really good… maybe I should keep these around for when I’m not feeling too swell??)
Discuss.

If you ask Colby what a cow says, that would be his response. I think it’s a cross between “moo” and “cow”.
Anywho, Colby is SO close to walking. He’ll walk around the house, holding on to furniture or to mine & Kevin’s fingers, and he’s already so fast. I think he might run before he walks.
What else is going on with us? I just got back from a reunion of the Texas Baptist All-State Choir. This is made up of high school students, but it’s been around for 30 years, so Alicia and I got to be in the alumni chorus, while Katrina sang in the student choir. We got to rehearse at Beautiful Dallas Baptist University, and no I wasn’t paid to say that. It’s a really pretty place, just a few miles outside of Grand Prairie.
I don’t know if Kevin got to take any pictures of us singing, because he was chasing Colby around the church. Colby has been working on his career as a major league pitcher, because everything in his hands eventually ends up on the floor. And, on the tile floor of First Baptist Grapevine, even a pretzel can sound like thunder. But Colby really made everyone laugh when he started making noises with his tongue.. they sounded a lot like, “LEDDL, LEDDL, LEDDL”, you know, right in the quiet parts of the songs.
That’s my boy.

Okay, Kevin has made it super easy to post, and I’ve seen other people update their myspace pages or their own blogs. But, none of these people have children.
So, if we don’t update our blog every once in awhile, it’s not because we don’t want you to know what’s going on! It’s just that there’s always something when you have a little one at your heels.
Anyway, I wanted to update and let you guys know what’s been going on in my world, a little separate from Kevin’s and Colby’s, but not much. I have a new job! I am now a Group Exercise Instructor at Aerofit Health Clubs in Bryan. (Both locations, for you B-CoSta residents.) Right now I teach 2 circuit classes a week. Circuit involves going to different stations and using a body bar or weights to work upper and lower body. In between these stations, we do some cardio segments. It’s a lot like interval training, which is a great way to lose weight. Then at the end we work on abs. I’m in the midst of getting trained to teach step aerobics, which will be a great mental as well as aerobic feat!
Another thing that’s happening is that I’ve joined our church’s MOPS group. (MOPS = Mothers Of PreSchoolers) I’m going to be the Publicity Chair for this next school year, which is keeping me very busy right now. Later I’ll have to put together a newsletter for each meeting, so if you have any funny quotes or comics for me, I’d appreciate them.
[shameless_plug] Oh, and if you want to join our MOPS group, we meet 2nd and 4th Tuesday mornings from 9:30-11:30. (Check out mops.org for even more info.) [/shameless_plug]
Okay, I suppose that’s it for now. Don’t want to spread myself too thin and give out TOO much info in this first post. Otherwise you’ll be expecting way too much of me.
If we haven’t heard from you in awhile, send us an email!!

Google is officially a verb! The word ‘google’ with a small ‘g’ has been added to the 11th edition Merriam-Webster dictionary as a verb. The definition: “to use the Google search engine to obtain information… on the World Wide Web.” As in, “Let me google that.”
Is this good or bad for Google’s corporate presence? (think Xerox, and Band-Aid).

Happy July 4th everyone! It was almost a rain-out here, but it managed to stop and we were able to go see the fireworks! Our music minister at church put together a choir comprised of 8 church choirs from the area to sing some patriotic songs accompanied by the Brazos Valley Symphony Orchestra. Colby was in awe of the fireworks, even though it was an hour past his bedtime! He would point to them and have a big smile on his face.
I snapped some pictures and I will try to upload the rest of them tomorrow, but you can see one of my favorites below. Click on the picture to make it bigger.

Wow, this is pretty awesome. This guy uses a tilt-frame lens to create some interesting effects in his photographs. In Olivo Barbieri’s photographs, the six-acre Roman Colosseum resembles an upside-down soda cap, Las Vegas and Rome look like model-train landscapes, and an 80,000-ton boat seems as if a child could pluck it from the water.

So I’ve redone the site in Wordpress. It is a piece of software that is geared more towards blogging. Since that is about all we do on the site besides the photo gallery, it just seemed to make sense. I really plan to post more than I have in the past year (which shouldn’t be too hard since I only posted once!). I’ve pulled the important posts from the old site over to this one, but I’m still working on it some.
One of the new features of this site is comments… so please feel free to leave a comment for us if you find something interesting or just want to say Hi!
